Completely Overhauling my Webliographer

I have spent both yesterday (4/27) and today (4/28) reworking on my webliographer. I found the best way that I could do that was to create a brand new webliographer. So, that being said, that is what I did. My new webliographer, titled Epilepsy: The Info, was alot of work. I not only went back through the sites from the webliographer that I had already created, but I also found new sites to add on to it. I am not done with the finished product, but I am closer than I was yesterday.

No $ for Big Finale

Sorry, for the last post I was going to post a surprise & link you to my Box.net file, where you could see my DVD that I have talked about on my Blogger site all semester long, however I would have to upgrade & I am not going to pay the money to do that. I did present it and Dr. Counts gave me an outstanding review.

Review of Final Topics

Ok, so I was wrong on my last post. It was not my LAST POST. I reviewed all of my work on my Webliographer and made adjustments yesterday. I added several links, with new topics, new subtopics, and a tremendous amount of new information. There was information out there that even I did not know about. Some things that I made a note to myself about to take with me when I go back for my annual visit in NY City in one month. So, this has been more than an assignment/ learning experience for me, it has helped me, possibly health wise also.

I had also hoped to be able to play the video that I have mentioned creating while writing on this blog, however, the video itself is over 4 minutes long so I cannot do that.
I said this on the last post, however I can now say it with the utmost of confidence that (unless Jay gives us an assignment in class tomorrow) this will be my last post to this 'BIG-BIG-BLOGGER' website, which is a part of my final grade.

Using Google

I have used Google today to update and (maybe?) finalize my "Epilepsy Webliographer. I was able to find many more topics that I had not found before, as well as update several of the topics that I had already created. I am also going to post a link to my class project that I have been discussing while creating this BIG-BIG-BLOGGER to the final version of my production for IT 569 DVD video that I created from still images. I am going to wait until after this Tuesday night until I do that, though, because I have ran into problems with so many DVD's along the way of making the final "cut." I do not want anything to happen to it. I know that it is a simple process & I know how to do it, I just want reassurance of my grade for the other course first.

Reference Pages

I used Google today, in order to look up the correct way to set up a Reference page for that big paper that I have written about for CREV 580. I typed in "Reference pages" and selected the third selection from the top, Resume and Reference Page Samples, and this link was very helpful. Now, I am finally finished with that paper. Hallelujah!

IT 569 Presentation

Today I used Google to aid in my search for my presentation in IT 569. I am almost finished with that presentation, I am working with videos and still photographs. I have also used I-Photos as well. The application I-Photo software is a very good tool that can be used for numerous projects. The ability to edit clips and photos, as well as make videos by transferring them to I-Video is great. That is going to be the next step that I am going to use for that project, make an I-Video.

Democracy

For part of my final project in my IT 569 class I am creating a video. As a part of this video I have used Open Office Software that I downloaded to my computer. The software that I found was owned by Democracy. After downloading and installing the software to my computer I used the software and tried out what it was that I wanted to use, however I was not please with the results. So, I unistalled the software from my computer and decided to use I-Movie instead. However, if you want to try out the software, you may be able to get something useful out of it, so again, here is the website.

Moving Data

Today I used Google Docs to create the document that we had for homework for "Moving Data." Afterwards, I had to save the document in ".txt" format, which was not a problem. This was the first time that I had done this using Google Docs. I did not know if there would be any difference or not, from Microsoft Word. I then, published this document on the web by posting a link to my Blogger website. So, I have used this site a couple of times today. Very busy day.

Google for Webliographer

I spent yesterday and today using Google to work more on finishing my Webliographer for my final project for class. By using Google's search engine I was able to find everything that I needed to find to complete my final project. I believe that it is shaping up very nicely. The Webliographer is only one piece of my final project, but I have found it very useful and believe that I will use it in the future in other classes. For example, whenever I am working on a research paper, I believe that a Webliographer is a good tool to use to help put the paper together.

Busy on Webliographer

I have been working on developing my Webliographer for two days now. It has been a very busy job. I am using Google to help me work on this, in order to help me find the sites that I need for articles. I have made my Webliographer "personal" and I have found out more information on the subject that I am working on in the process of doing so. As I stated, I have been working on it for two days now, today alone I have put in eight hours on the job. However, that time has not came without its rewards. It is really looking good and I have really became associated with working on the Webliographer's "user-features."

Open Office Impress

Since my last post I have been very busy creating a presentation for my other IT class. For this presentation I used OpenOffice Impress to create the presentation. It went very well, I was "Impressed" (play on words) since it was my first time actually using it for an actual "real" presentation for another class. I did not have any problems creating the presentation, nor did I have any problems when I went to present the presentation. So, I was pleased to say the least.

G-mail

I am in a little bit of depression right now, because my Kentucky Wildcats got knocked out of the NCAA tournament. I know, I know that has nothing to do with IT, or anything like that, but it still hurts.

There were still some (1 or 2) e-mails that I was receiving on my Yahoo! e-mail account , instead of them being forwarded to my G-Mail account. I went to both accounts and they are both set up appropriately, in order for the mail to be transferred over. So, I e-mailed the companies that are not complying with my wishes and told them to change my e-mail address immediately. Everything else is working fine, no problems anywhere.

Google Docs Database Troubles

Today I was working on an assignment for IT 569 and I was trying to use GoogleDocs to create a database. I do not know what the problems were that I was having, but I was not able to create the database like I wanted it to appear. I tried several times and made sure that I was entering in all of the data correctly but kept getting an error message that read, "Error, information cannot be entered because of 13032."

I have no idea what that number stands for, nor did I spend the time to look it up, because I have several more research assignments that I have to work on. So, I just went to Excel and created the information on a spreadsheet. If anyone knows anything about that number error code that I received please let me know what it means. This was the first time that I have ran into any problems using GoogleDocs for an assignment.

I-Paq Transfers

Today I sent several notices sent from my computer to my I-PAQ, all wirelessly. I had some appointments that I needed to set up and also several people that I needed to call at the university. All of these appointments had been put on my Google calendar, which I looked at on my cell phone this morning, then sent to my I-PAQ. That is very cool to be able to do all of that together.

Open Office Writer

Last night was the "big night" for my group in ITHES 569. We had our big presentation and we did very well when we presented. That is what Dr. Counts told us anyways. He is the one that gives us the grade, so who cares what the others think?
Today I have been working with that presentation that we presented. We used Microsoft PowerPoint as our presentation tool. This morning I have gone through and, using OpenOffice Writer, I have taken that presentation and saved the filed as an OpenOffice Writer file. So, now I am able to access the presentation in either way. When I started I was not for sure if I was able to do it, but I am very pleased with the results. The presentation is exactly the same as it was last night. So, I would have to give myself an "A" for today.
Today I also used Google Word Docs to write a document for my final project that I am working on for a research paper in CREV 580. I wrote down on of the websites that I found as sources that I am going to use. There were several magazine articles that I found and I could not print some of them off here, so when I go to the library I will not have to take anything with me, I will be able to look the sites up on my "Google Docs" page on the computers there.
I also did a little "tinkering" with my homepage of my blog today. I added a picture, as well as some text.

IT 569-Google Docs

For today's entry I am going to tell you a little more about that project that I have for my IT 569 class. However, I am not going to type it out here. I created it in a Google document, so you can gain access to it by going here http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ddh52842_55sbqz6. I will be glad when that presentation is over, although there is another one right behind it.
To create the document, I signed into my Google account, then went to Documents and Spreadsheets. Next, I typed out the information that you will see when you click the hyperlink. Then, I opened up my blog, signed into my blog, and typed this information that you are reading. As I was typing this text, I double-clicked the web address where my Google Document is located, then pasted the web address. I had to do this operation twice, in order to complete this assignment.

Migrating from Yahoo!

So, today I did something a little more complicated. I have been a Yahoo! account user for years, I mean years. Recently, whenever the date was they came out with the service, I upgraded to the Yahoo! Beta account service. Until becoming more and more familiar with Google's e-mail service, I thought that Yahoo's e-mail service was very good. Now, I like Google's e-mail even better though.
Anyways, today I went through and imported my calendar from Yahoo! to Google. Here are the steps to do so:

1. From my Google homepage, I clicked on the link titled, "How do I migrate events from Yahoo! calendar to Google calendar?
2. Then, I signed into my Yahoo! account & went to "Options"
3. I clicked the "Import/Export" button & chose the Export button
4. I saved my file onto my desktop
5. Back on my Google account, on the Calendar, I went to "Settings," "Import Calendar"
6. I clicked "Browse", went to "Desktop" & selected my the file I had saved & opened that file
7. From the dropdown menu, I selected calendar which I wanted to import events
8. I then clicked Import to complete the process

First Blog

Ok, so here we go....we're going to blog a little bit! Well, when I started with my final project it was like this... I was going to "Use only Web-Based Applications," I was not going to run into any problems, I had everything mapped out perfectly, there were not going to be any walls that I was going to run into, then...REALITY CHECK!

So, originally today I was going to do research on "creating a classroom homepage." I was going to use "Moodle" to work on this because it provides calendars, lessons plans, etc., to help do this. However, I had no idea what type of classroom I wanted to set up, therefore I found it in my best interest not to go any further in this route. That is when I had a "brain fart" and several ideas began to enter my mind all at once.

I changed my plans and just dove right into using Google Docs. I used this to prepare a paper for my IT-569 course. I had to use hyperlinks on Google Docs in order to get to five sites that were needed for presentation on Interactive Media for this document that I was preparing. However, the overall experience with Google Docs was fine.
